Scan Reliability Guide
Quiet zone, error correction, and safe layouts for print, outdoor, and broadcast.
In this tool, Margin = the Quiet Zone around the QR (measured in "modules"). Our defaults auto-set when you select a Primary use case: Broadcast and Out Of Home use Margin 8 + EC H; Physical Media uses Margin 6 + EC Q; Physically Small uses Margin 3 + EC M and disables center logos.
Tip: If you animate a QR for broadcast, the last 10-15 seconds should be completely still (no scaling/rotation) so viewers can scan reliably.

Image 4
Broadcast (TV / SABC / DStv)
Error correction: Level H. Quiet zone: 8 modules. Required: solid white backing box.
Why: motion blur, compression artifacts, and varying screen resolutions can break lower-level codes.
Out of Home (Billboards / Mall Media)
Error correction: Level H. Quiet zone: 8+ modules. Design: high-contrast (dark on white).
Why: scanning at a distance or angle needs maximum correction and a wide buffer.
Physical Media (Packaging / Posters)
Error correction: Level Q (or H if a logo is embedded). Quiet zone: 6 modules. Design: dark charcoal/navy/black.
Why: balances data density and scan speed across devices.
Physically small (under 2cm)
Suggested: Error correction Level M so modules don't become too tiny to print cleanly. Always test on real prints.
Export and Broadcast Pack
Best masters for print, advertiser reporting, and TV-safe overlays.
Best master format for bounce animation (broadcast overlay)
1) MOV ProRes 4444 with alpha (master). 2) PNG sequence with alpha (broadcast systems). 3) TGA sequence with alpha (optional legacy). 4) MP4 preview only for approvals.
Rule: 0-1.5s bounce-in, then completely still. Hold 10-15s minimum for scanning. Keep a solid light backing box and a generous quiet zone.
Suggested delivery pack
Static: PNG transparent overlay, PNG with white backing, SVG master, 1920x1080 mockup. Animated: ProRes 4444 alpha, PNG sequence alpha, MP4 preview.
Avoid using MP4/GIF as final broadcast masters (compression and no real alpha workflow).

Section 1
Name and Default URL
Your QR name and its fallback destination.
Default URL is required.
This is the fallback destination for this dynamic token.
Name is required.
Automatic Schedule Redirect
If current time is inside the window, scans automatically redirect to this schedule URL.
Edit Redirects
Redirect Rules
Schedule, geo redirects, and interstitial rules are edited here. These rules do not change the token link.
If location is available and within radius, scans redirect to the Geo URL.
Show an image with a countdown before redirecting. Maximum 30 seconds.

If set, users will see a "View Offer" button on the interstitial that opens this link while the countdown still redirects to the destination.

QR Styling
Design the QR to match your brand. The token link stays the same.
Select a Primary use case to continue.
This helps tune safe defaults (quiet zone + error correction). Your final QR uses the dynamic token link, not the destination URL.
Higher margins scan better on print, TV, and outdoor placements.
For branded codes or TV, use higher correction. Small printed codes may need simpler shapes.
Color
Controls the outer corner frames when using rounded/dot corner styles.

Center logos are disabled for physically small QR codes (under 2cm) for scan reliability.
Logo does not change the QR token link. Keep logos simple for best scan reliability.
Background is baked into the downloaded QR image (token stays the same).
This logo is a label under the code (not the center logo). It will not change the token link.
